Effective December 4, 2020, Rahr Corporation has purchased the outstanding 51% of Koda Energy from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) and Koda is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Rahr.

In the Dakota language, “Koda” means friend. To the Earth and the environment, Koda Energy is Shakopee, MN is a great friend to have. Starting with a groundbreaking in September of 2007, Koda Energy was founded as a joint venture between Rahr Malting and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). The facility began generating electricity in March 2009 and became fully operational in late May 2009. In 2020, Rahr purchased the SMSC's ownership stake, and Koda is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Rahr.

Last week on September 11th, the Minnesota-based Bushel Boy Farms broke ground on its new 50-acre (20-hectare) facility in Mason City, Iowa. The new facility is estimated to increase production by 50%, and bring 50 full-time jobs to the area. The project’s building contract has been given to VB Greenhouse Projects from the Netherlands to create a modern greenhouse complex for the new facility.
